Community Education Program

A pro-active approach that focuses on the holistic impact concussion has on well-being.

We look at the environmental, social, and cognitive challenges associated with those living with concussion and why these challenges require enhanced community support.

We educate community members, caregivers, peers (etc)., on how to provide safer, more informed, and supportive communities.

Our pro-active approach not only improves the well-being of those living with concussion but also the community members who provide support.

Our Mission

Support traumatic brain injury recovery, including concussion through a community-based platform offering education, empowerment, and social connection.

The Keep Your Head Up Foundation is a registered charity located in Waterloo, Ontario (2020). The organization was founded by two young women who live with the effects of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Allie and Felicia combined their personal experiences navigating their recoveries with their public health backgrounds, to provide community-based education and support for individuals impacted by TBI, including concussions.

Our vision is a world where individuals affected by brain injuries feel supported, connected, and empowered so that they are able to build the resilience to help them navigate their recovery journeys.

β€œI went to so many brain injury support groups and they were always so negative. I always left feeling worse. I am so happy I found Keep Your Head Up. I don’t know how you do it, but it always feels so positive, without minimizing what we are going through.”

β€œMy patient did your programming the other day. She is pretty sensitive, so she paced it, but she really enjoyed it and was super happy when I spoke with them about it.”
