School Education Program
What is it:
Our School Education Program educates youth in school (students grades 7-12 in the Waterloo Region) on the holistic impact concussion has on well-being. It looks at the environmental, social, and cognitive challenges associated for those living with a concussion in a school demographic and why these challenges require enhanced community support.
Our Goal:
To bring awareness to the seriousness and prevalence of concussions in school settings and youth populations while addressing the numerous challenges faced by youths recovering from concussions, emphasizing why community support is essential while navigating recovery.
What to Expect:
A one hour interactive education presentation facilitated by Keep Your Head Up team members who have a background in brain injuries and concussions and/or have lived experience with concussions. Students are encouraged to share and engage in the presentation as well as show their learning with group knowledge checks. The presentation includes a visual aid in the form of a PowerPoint Presentation File and will require the use of a screen (SMART Board or Projector system) for the duration of the session.
When is it:
Mondays, Tuesdays, or Friday mornings to early afternoon from Mid-September to Mid-December OR Mid-January to Mid-June (*excluding Statutory Holidays). Presentations may be booked at most 2 months in advance.
